Do You Know The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Hair Extensions?

There probably isn`t a woman in this world who hasn`t thought about growing her hair really long. But as this can be a time-consuming process, most women change their mind before they achieve their goal and as a result, rare are those who actually manage to get long, long hair. However, hair dressers had this in mind when they came up with hair extensions. But what do you actually know about them?

First of all, hair extensions can be made of natural hair, synthetic hair and a combination of both of them. The price depends on both the quality of the material used and of course, the choice of a beauty parlor. But, many women can afford even the most expensive hair extensions.

When it comes to the main advantages of hair extensions, they are quite obvious. You don`t need to spend a lot of time if you want long hair. The procedure of getting them done is not painful and it does not last long.

As for the most important disadvantages, there are a few that you need to be aware of. Hair extensions are heavy and they are not really beneficial for your scalp. In certain extreme cases, due to the sensitivity of one`s scalp, natural hair starts falling off, which is not exactly smart.

Also, hair dressers usually have a lot of problems with applying hair extensions to thin hair because the joints cannot be easily hidden. Your hair dresser is obliged to inform you about this, but some of them will keep quiet because, not surprisingly, they want to earn money. Hair extensions look best on those with thick hair.

And finally, no matter what other people tell you, hair extensions are usually very obvious and you cannot fool anyone. Just look at celebrities. We all know when we see fake hair, so what`s the deal? However, if this does not bother you, then you should go for it.

Keep in mind that you consider both the advantages and disadvantages of hair extensions and that you make the final decision only when you are certain what it is exactly that you want. This is the only way to avoid wasting

How To Prevent Dry Hair?

beautiful hair
Dry hair is a problem for almost every woman alive. How do you identify if your hair is dry or not? Well if you have a coarse touch to your hair, if there are a lot of split ends and your hair easily breaks when you comb it, then it is a clear signal that your hair is pretty much dried up and that its time you take steps to make it look smooth and lovely again. Most people don’t realize that excessive use of chemical products and tools such as hair dryers; blow dryers etc are the main culprits for our hair to be dry and unhealthy.

Cause of Dry Hair

Before finding solutions of dry hair, first we must understand the cause to dry hair. First off, daily commuting can cause exposure to sunlight which is harmful for the hair, as it burns away the sensitive tissues, leaving the hair coarse and vulnerable to dryness. For this, the best solution is to cover your hair with a hat or a small scarf which will add up to your beauty, as well as protect your lovely hair. Other than that, you can also use hair sunscreen which provides a coat to protect your hair from the rays.

Use of Natural Products

The second responsible factor for your hair getting dry is that of the excessive use of hair dryers. Most women have no time to let their hair dry naturally so therefore they prefer to use the dryer on high heat to dry the hair as soon as possible. This act leaves the hair burnt and dried. Some also have the craving for having straight hair, and end up blow drying or straightening their hair every other day, which though gives a good look for the time being, but later you would see your hair become like a broomstick. The solution to this is again to leave your hair to dry naturally and not to use any kind of quick treatments.

Keep Hair Healthy

The last and the most important thing is to try using natural products like yogurt, tea leaves, lemon etc to keep your hair healthy. Remember that chemical products may keep your hair only “looking” nice temporarily, but they cannot make your hair healthy. So, care for your hair wisely before they dry up and fade away.

Some Of The Natural Hair Care Products

There are many products for hair in the market, but how do you know which ones are the best hair care products? This article will help you discover some of the best products which you can purchase to treat your hair problems. Shampoos are by far the most common type of products that people purchase for their hair. Shampoos are designed to clean and get rid of excessive oil and dirt on the hair, which causes it to be dry. It is important that you purchase a good shampoo because often poor quality shampoos can do more harm than good to your hair. Some of the best shampoos have added vitamins in it as well as natural ingredients such as shea butter or jojoba extract. These types of products have less chemical content in it, which is excellent for your hair.

Women are always very particular about hair care products. It is always advised to test any hair care products before buying to make sure it does not contain components that will cause an allergic reaction. Hair care products of choice depend on once hair type. There are unlimited hair care products manufacturing companies in India. Hair care products for women and hair care for men offer cost effective solutions that fits into every budget. The hair care for women provide solution to every hair problem. Women can easily get a shampoo for dry hairs, dandruff's, etc. You can also get hair care in India products, which will make your hairs shiny yet again. If possible, use it every day for the best results. Good conditioners help by retaining the moisture in your hair which is important if you want to have healthier hair. Shampooing alone does not really help in retaining the moisture. Do note that cheap conditioners are very waxy, which is not good for the hair as it blocks the cuticles of the hair, giving it the illusion that it is shiny.

These products are usually for people who want to pamper their hair more. It is often applied to the hair and left for some time for the effects to set in. Most of these hair masks have properties such as moisturizing, damage repair and hair loss control to suit your needs. When used in combination with a good shampoo and conditioner, the results that you get are amazing. Using natural hair care products is the best practice for getting beautiful, strong and smooth hairs for a long term. Most of the hair care products available in the market today are not natural and are manufactured using different chemicals, synthetic materials and a very less or no composition of natural materials. Almost all of these products smell good since these includes flower or fruit components. Although most of the chemical products also smell well but this smell is just an outcome of the chemicals and synthetic perfumes which can never compete with the real natural things.

Simple Men's Hair Care

When it comes to how often you should cut your hair the answer is the same for both men and women. Even women who are known for their long locks still need to have the damaged ends removed. Men tend to keep their hair short and styled so you would think that they would need to a haircut more often, but that isn't always the case. It really depends on your particular style and the rate at which your hair grows. Hair is everything that you need to have for the styling for your hair. So determine what type of hair you have. Oily, normal and dry hair the three types of hair that we have. Oil glands are thick in oily hair type, oil glands are small and inactive in dry hair type and normal hair is devoid of any problem. So use the appropriate shampoo and conditioner for your hair. For dry hair conditioner is very much important and useful because it repairs the dryness of hair and brings back the smoothness of your hair. Always rinse your hair after applying shampoo and conditioner completely.

Some years ago if any male person was heard to talk about hair care and grooming then it was a topic of laughter. But now the picture is changed. Now a day men are more conscious about their looks and styles than before. They care a lot about their appearances. They are conscious about more and more styling products as they want to look like models. They are becoming modernized in their hair style and as well as in their entire styling. So they are trying several techniques just to have a desired look. It can be metro sexual look, it can be rough and tough look or retro sexual look. Going to a salon is no more a weird thing. Shaping eyebrows or having a facial is now so common even in a small town. Coloring up hair and flaunting new styles are also done by everyone. In 21st century you have to be updated about your looks and styles if you want to experiment with your hair. If you do not do that it will give you an itchy scalp and dry hair. You can use warm water for shampooing but for conditioner it is better to use cold water. Massage the scalp gently and than rinse completely. Always massage with your finger tips but not with your nails. Do not use the conditioner in the hair roots as it can cause hair fall.

If you hair is exposed to a lot of chemicals and products, which most men's hair is, then damage is being caused and this will mean that regular haircuts are essential to help reduce any long lasting damage and to remove the damage that has already been caused. The average person's hair grows about an inch every month. Your hair texture and sensitivity to damage will also play a determining factor in how often you should cut it. If you regularly get a trim then you should only need to remove around a 1/4 of an inch. If not, you will need to have more taken off to remove any damage and of course bring your hair back to your chosen style. Having your hair cut often and the ends trimmed by a professional stylist will not only keep your hair looking its best but also make it easily fall in place and assume the style you chose while having it cut. The end result will be great hair that looks well maintained and stylishly trim, provided you take time to determine how often you should cut your hair.

Baby Hair Care

Braiding is good for your baby's hair as long as the braids are not too tight. Braiding the hair too tight pulls on the scalp and can cause headaches, unnecessary tension and severe hair loss, even at a young age. It also can have a negative impact on the hair, pulling it out of the scalp by the roots causing thinness around the edges and hairline and then traumatic baldness. You can always tell if someone has worn braids too tight or for a long period of time without taking a break as the person's hairline starts to recede and the braids will start further and further back off the face presenting a balding look from the front. You may want to wait until she is at the stage where she does not play with her hair and will not bother the bands. When my children were babies and I used to put them to bed, as a safety precaution I would remove their barrettes and bands because they often had wandering curious hands.

As for your baby, it's okay to section the hair off and start to pinch up the hair in those sections and braid them if long enough. You can put the small hair bands around the pinched up braids, but be very careful. If your child is at the stage where she likes to pull on things, she may pull one of these off, put it in her mouth, and choke on it. When I'm out and about with our children, I always look out for other children who belong to transracial families. One of the things I do next may surprise you: I look to see if the child's skin is well taken care of and if the hair is done right. You might be wondering what I'm talking about. Let me expound on it some more. There are parents who know how to take care of their children's hair, my wife and I are an example of that. Nevertheless, there are many who do not. As a result, their child's hair becomes a hot mess, and believe it or not, this may wreak havoc on their self-image. Our goal is not to criticize but to educate the many who do not take the trouble to learn more about their child's hair care.

If your baby's hair is too short to braid right now, simply use a small amount of mild cream moisturizer on the hair to keep it moisturized. Wash the hair as often as you bathe the baby to avoid conditions such as cradle cap where there is a buildup of scales and dandruff due to not washing often. If you are following this regimen, soon you will see the hair take off to new heights. If you continually lay the baby on the one side every time she goes down for a nap, that side of the hair will never get a chance to grow and the baby's hair will be rubbed out creating a bald spot. This not only happens to black babies, but I have seen this happen to babies of other races too. Not only do you need to hydrate the hair on the outside, but you can also do this from the inside. When the body is well hydrated, not only do the internal organs benefit, but your child's skin, nails and hair benefit tremendously, and you are paving the way for successful hair growth for your baby and older children.

Eight Ways To Take Care of Your Hair

Plain old everyday cooking oil will work just as good as any hot oil treatment and is a great way to rehydrate your hair. Take a couple of tablespoons of oil and work it through your hair paying special attention to the ends. If your hair is dry on the ends but greasy on top, skip the top and just massage it into the ends. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinse out thoroughly. This processing can damage your hair and leave it dried out and dull. Of course, there is a plethora of products on the market that will claim to restore the natural beauty of your hair, but doesn't it makes sense to use natural remedies instead of shampoos and conditioners that are loaded with chemicals?

If you want to make it last for several months, you need to know how you can properly take care of it. Some people are thinking that maintaining hair attachments is a hard task, but it just needs a bit more effort compared to taking care of a real hair. Brushing it hard is one of the most common causes why an extension gets damaged. Another thing that you need to remember is to apply heat protection spray whenever you are using hot appliances for hair care like hair iron, hair blower, and curling iron. This will further increase the lifespan of your extension and will make it worth more than what you have paid for it.

1. Wash your hair with gentle shampoo. Use very little but sufficient to cover it completely with foam. Use a conditioner to keep hair manageable.

2. Avoid brushing wet hair. This causes the hair to stretch and eventually break. Finger-dry, or use a comb instead of a brush to lightly remove the knots.

3. Avoid blow-drying your hair. The course of blow drying is harsh on hair because it removes the moisture.

4. Avoid dyes. Use henna instead as a conditioner and dye.

5. Take a calcium supplement or drink 2 glasses of milk every day.

6. Keep hair dryer away from your hair.

7. after a perm, in no way brush your hair. As an alternative, comb the hair gently.

8. Trim your hair once in a week to prevent split ends.

Apply the paste uniformly along your dry hair, wait for around half an hour, and then rinse with water and shampoo. If you can repeat this application every week, you would not need other conditioning, apart from beauty treatments at home, to look and feel naturally beautiful.

How to protect your hair

Hair is a vivid illustration of the incredible diversity of people inhabiting our planet. For example, a tuft of hair on the top sumo wrestler is so closely associated with his sporting activities, which solemnly cut off when a fighter ends his career. In Cambodia, the bride and groom traditionally make special clippers to deflect the impact of newly-weds of evil forces. In Malaysia, the men against the law to wear long hair, but in the Indian state of Punjab, by contrast, face the death penalty a man with a neat short haircut.
Normal type hair reflects the light shimmering in the sun. If your hair is elastic, almost flogged, easy to fit and comb, are lively appearance and preserve these qualities within a few days after shampooing, then you have correctly and properly caring for them with suitable means to you and your hair healthy. Unfortunately, the hair without problems are rare.Dry hair do not reflect light, making them look dull and lacking luster. They are easily torn, confused, difficult to comb, cut by the ends. Often, dry hair - the result of improper care, rather than a consequence of reduced activity of the sebaceous glands.
It is believed that the hair is well combed before washing, combing and will be better after. We recommend short hair comb from the roots, and long - with the ends, gradually moving to the roots. Wet hair is better not to comb, and if it is necessary, not metal combs, and plastic or wood. The best drying is a natural dry hair, sometimes with warm towels. Use a hair dryer is often not recommended, but if your hair requires styling hair dryer, it should be possible to use cold drying mode, holding the hair dryer at least 40 cm from the scalp.
To select a shampoo, use a simple principle: carefully read the text on the package and use the shampoo, which is designed for your hair type, and then start using the analyze results. Positive results from the use of shampoo can be considered clean hair, their lack of fat, shiny hair after drying, good raschesyvaemost and obedience, the lack of stimulation of the scalp. To understand what this shampoo does not suit you, just one-two-fold application, but in order to come to the conclusion that this shampoo is just for you - you should regularly use it for at least several weeks. In addition, a good shampoo should remove the static electricity from your hair, and most importantly - to compensate the loss of protein, moisture and nutrients. The assertion that the shampoo from time to time to be changed - Myth: If you picked yourself a shampoo that you are completely satisfied, change it to another is only in the event of changes in the state of your hair.
Hair care products of the above would be sufficient. But when we talk about leaving, we mean healthy hair with certain features, but when these features become reasonable limits and become a problem - it's time to start talking about remedies. Of all the problems with the hair dander - a problem that occurs most frequently. It is important to understand that hair care, as well as care for any other part of the body - is a life lesson. You can not look after hair a month or two and then forget about it, hoping that they are now until the end of life will be healthy. Be consistent and do not leave your hair without a care.

The best hair care products for dry hair

Hair care is a journey. Pretty profound, yep, I know, but in some manner it is. Many of us - especially me - have been looking for just the right combination of products and appliances to give us the best hair care. Shampoo, conditioners, styling appliances like flat irons, curling irons or curlers, and styling aids have all played a role in giving us the hair style we want.
For me the journey to find the perfect look has been elusive. There's just not much you can do with thin hair and a couple of well-placed and prominent cow-licks. Its just not going to happen. The quest, however, remained active into my twenties until work, girls, and outside activities took the main stage. I simply didn't have the time or internet to work on what seemed to be a hopeless endeavor. I did realize that I could do with what I had and that proper hair care products would help me greatly.
Dry hair is difficult to control after shampooing, it looks thin and rough, it is susceptible to tangles and has ends that are dry and split. It has a non-slippery feel and does not slide through your fingers. This doesn't necessarily go along with a dry scalp. However, if your scalp is dry, you may develop dandruff and your hair may become thin if the dandruff is not treated.
The main cause of dry hair is lack of sebum in the scalp, which makes the hair coarse and brittle and susceptible to damage. Poor nutrition, exposure to the sun and over use of heated appliances can also rob the hair of valuable moisture. Brushing and combing will help to stimulate the scalp and distribute existing oils to the brittle ends. The aim of a hair care regime for dry hair is to replenish oil and moisture in the hair. So, the emphasis is on conditioning. Frequent shampooing should be avoided.
A generous oil application the night before washing your hair is recommended, as this will condition the hair and scalp and stimulate the oil glands and circulation flow as well. If your hair is very dry and damaged, apply a hydrating mask once a week. Avoid vigorous drying with a towel after washing your hair, as this will remove essential moisture. Instead gently squeeze excess water from the hair and blot dry with a towel.

This makes each individual layer slightly longer than the layer underneath. What this does is to give hair that looks more weight on the end with a little under the curve. Since it was launched in 1983, the Alternative Hair Show has now raised more than £8 million for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
All the research is carefully selected with the benefit of independent specialist advice from experts of international standing in the field of medical and scientific research. So, we can be sure it is helping us to improve treatments and advance cures for leukaemia lymphoma, myeloma, and other related cancers of the blood.
Today, thanks to the Alternative Hair Show, the dream of all children surviving leukaemia becomes a real possibility.
One important factor appears to be the minute number of leukaemia cells (MRD – minimal residual disease) that remain in a child’s blood after treatment. Research backed by the Alternative Hair Show is allowing scientists to measure these levels accurately and determine their significance. It is now possible to detect just one leukaemia cell in a 100,000 – a volume that could be placed on the head of a pin. In-depth information like this is crucial because it helps us to get clearer idea of the best treatment for the individual child. Children most likely to relapse can then be targeted with stronger therapy at an earlier stage, and children with a better prognosis can be freed from the risk and unpleasantness of unnecessary aggressive treatment. This is just one of the ways in which the Alternative Hair Show is pushing research forward and making a difference to lives of the children with leukaemia. Other research is making exciting strides in understanding the frightening diseases and improving treatments not only for children but also for the many adults of all ages who fall victim to leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and the other blood cancers.
Thanks to the Alternative Hair Show, much has been achieved. Today nine out of ten children survive their leukaemia and the outlook for adults of all ages is vastly improved. However, much more can and must be done. Leukaemia still claims the lives of more children than any other disease; these diseases account for a more than one third of cancers in adolescents and young adults. We are sure that with the energy and backing of the Alternative Hair Show the future for people of all ages with leukaemia and the related blood cancers will be a lot brighter.

Nurture Hair to Health

When it comes to hair loss, our biggest concern is usually how this will affect the way our hair looks. It's a natural concern for most women (and men!) to have. The health of our hair, however, is actually what we need to evaluate. From scalp conditions to what we eat, there are several areas related to health that you should consider if you notice a change in your hair growth and texture.
"Hair health depends on blood supply, circulation and nutrition," says ChicagoHealers.com Practitioner Dr. Melody Hart. "It can also be from one's thyroid, liver hormones and stress levels." Whether you're suffering from hair loss or want to prevent it from happening, these expert tips will help you keep your hair its healthiest.
Eating and Drinking for Hair
Check the ingredients in the food you eat. Are your meals enriching? A lot of foods lack vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. For instance, eating organic can greatly improve hair health, says Dr. Julia Tatum Hunter, dermatologist and founder of Skin Fitness Plus in Beverly Hills, CA. "The closer to nature—raw green foods—you eat, the more alkaline and healthy your skin and body will become," she explains. "You must address your skin and body internally and externally to achieve health and turn back the clock."
Dr. Hart also suggests eating foods rich in silica and sulphur such as onions, garlic, green leafy veggies and eggs. Sulphur, which is often dubbed the "beauty mineral" and can be found in its greatest concentration in hair, skin and nails, promotes circulation and decreases inflammation. Experts like Dr. Hart theorize adequate amounts of sulphur can help jumpstart hair growth in people with deficiencies. "Iodine and potassium foods, such as sea vegetables (like seaweed), also promote growth and thickness," she says.
As much as you love coffee, sweets, and salty snacks, reducing your intake of salt, sugar, fats and caffeine can also aid in fostering hair health. Instead of coffee or soda, drink water. Since the human body is generally composed of 60-80 percent water, when deprived of it, your cell health suffers. Dehydration directly impacts hair growth, so Dr. Hart suggests drinking at least six glasses of water a day.

The 5 Hottest Hair Color Trends for 2011

Bright hues have proved to be a huge hair color trend this year. Brazen celebrities including Kate Bosworth, Avril Lavigne, Carrie Underwood, Pink and Rihanna have hit the red carpet this year in streaks, bright dyes, washes of pastels and dip-dye looks. For inspiration (or simply pure entertainment), see those celebrities and others in my gallery of 20 Amazing Bright Colors for Hair. I had a blast pulling it together for you.

Another hot trend for 2011 is one for darker-haired girls. Ombré has been popping up on red carpets all year long. Ombré is a French word that literally means "shaded like a gradient." Roots remain dark while the rest of the hair becomes lighter mid-shaft using the balayage technique I talk about below. Check out the photo of model Lily Aldridge above. Her dark to light color is a great example of ombré. This photo gallery of 20 amazing ombré hairstyles is a can't miss.
"Bronde" is that perfect shade between blonde and brunette that was first made popular back in 2007 by supermodel Gisele Bundchen and remains popular in 2011. Getting the perfect shade of bronde requires an adept stylist. Learn more about the technique in this photo gallery of 20 luscious bronde hairstyles.
Balayage is taking the country's salons by storm. My colorist Mira at NYC's Eva Scrivo Salon stopped giving me foils a couple years ago because balayage highlights, which are painted on, look so much more natural than the pin-stripes foils give you. Plus, balayage highlights grow out beautifully. More than a year ago I couldn't find anyone on my visits to Seattle or Austin who did balayage. Not anymore! The word has spread. Find out more about balayage in this article and find out more about My Best Blonde Hair Tips and Tricks.
Platinum blonde hair remains popular in 2011. Keeping hair this blonde is high maintenance, however, and won't suit all skin tones. This is why you want to go to a professional if you are dying your hair more than 2 shades lighter than your natural color. Keep in mind the general rule of thumb that if you were blonde as a child, you will look good blonde as an adult. Find out if platinum hair color suits you in Can You Get Away With Platinum Hair?. Also, browse photos of my favorite platinum blonde hairstyles.

Know Your Face Shape-To Find Your Most Flattering Looks

We are hard-wired, for survival, to recognize faces from the moment we can see. When we're older, even if we don't remember a name we may recognize the face of someone we've met before.
Since others spend so much time looking at our face it makes sense to present it in the best light possible!
When you know your face shape you can choose your most flattering hairstyles, hats, eyeglasses, sunglasses and earrings.
1.Determining Your Face Shape
There are a few approaches to this. You will need...
A mirror large enough to see your whole face
It may help to have a photo of your face. Pull your hair back away from your face and make sure the photo is taken square-on to your face, so you can see both sides. If you're taking the photo yourself, for example with a cell phone camera, make sure the camera is far enough away that you don't get a distorted, fish-eye effect!
Or, it may help to draw the outline of your face, with your hair held away from your face, on the mirror (make sure whatever you use -- for example, whiteboard marker, eye-liner pencil, lipstick -- will wipe off later!)
Ok, now you're ready to find the shape of your face by answering the questions below...
I hope I've structured this questionnaire to make it as easy as possible for you to find your face shape. If you have any difficulty using this format please contact me and let me know what is confusing.
You may discover it's not as easy as you'd think to categorize the shape ofyour face. Each of us has a unique face length-width ratio, jaw, jaw-line and front-on outline. So it's not always a cut-and-dry decision as to which face shape category to choose.
For example, if your face length is definitely longer than wide and you have a broad, square jaw-line then, using the questionnaire above, you will come out as a rectangle. However, if, when looking at your front-on outline (the sides of your face), your jaw is the widest part of your face the triangle category may be a better choice for you. It will depend how definitely your face is longer than wide, do you see your face length first? Or is your jaw more obvious than your face length? Another approach is to combine the recommendations for both shapes.
If, after doing the questionnaire above and looking at the pictures below you're still having trouble determining your face shape ask me to tell you your face shape here.
2.Descriptions and Pictures of the Face Shapes
Use the descriptions below to verify your selected face shape or adjust your choice if needed.
Select the link on your face type to see recommendations for your most flattering hairstyles, eyeglasses, hats, makeup and earrings.

How to Protect Hair At Night

There's nothing more harmful than exposing your hair to breakage and tangling. These two factors can lead to more severe consequences. Consequently it is worth devoting some extra-time and care to arrange the strands into a beneficial manner that would leave the tresses tangle-free and smooth for the next morning. This is valid not only for those who have extra-long hair but also for those who sport a lower than shoulder-length hairstyle.
Furthermore it is also a well-known fact that the cotton sheets might drain the hair from its natural moisture this way further aggravating the deterioration process. Besides enjoying the cascading effect of the hair it is also essential to maintain its health and shine. The proper preventive actions will efficiently increase the resistance of the follicles towards constant turning in bed. Skim through the basic tips on how to protect hair while sleeping.
Braided Hair
There's nothing more soothing for the hair than when its arranged into a certain pattern. From the ancient times girls who had long hair plaited the tresses into a loose braided do in order to keep tangles away from the strands. Moreover you can also lessen the chance of damage if you choose more braids. Two or more will work miraculously to keep your hair detangled. The plaited hairstyle you choose will depend on your personal preferences.
If you tend to sleep on your sides you might go for the single braid that won't cause any discomfort. Ultra-tight braids prove to be just as damaging. Instead make sure the hairdo is loose and allows the hair to breath all throughout the night.
Fine hair is more prone to tangling that's why it is essential to choose either the French or English braid hairstyles for beautiful wavy hair in the morning.
Oil Treatment
Oily hair might be sticky and uncomfortable for some. However this kind of oily treatment will do the greatest favor to your hair. This treatment can be practiced if you decide to wash your hair in the morning and want to enjoy the benefits of shiny hair.
At night the follicles might be left without natural moisture these deep conditioning treatments might serve as proper hydration for the worn-out locks.
Choose a natural hair oil for this and apply it evenly for all the strands. The tangles will be perfectly banished since the oily and greasy aspect will allow the hair to slide carelessly on the linen. Protect your nightwear and the pillow from the sticky patches with a used and less sassy cover.
Sleeping Buns
Similarly to braids buns can also prevent the strands from damage. Those who are used to sport stylish loose buns instead of plaits might find it the best option for night. Indeed these might not offer the same support still are more ideal than leaving the tresses free. You can place the sleeping bun on the crown area so that it won't cause you any trouble. Fix it properly with a gentle elastic for the long-lasting effect, keep it loose since tight ones might only do more harm than good.
Silk Scarves
It might seem surprising and a bit strange however covering your head with a silky smooth scarf is the perfect method to keep your strands tangle-free and fit for the next day. More these have the ability to maintain the top shape of a plaited or curly hairstyle for the next morning. In order to efficiently sport the style pair it with a braided or bun updo.
These will further increase the chance of avoiding any deterioration. Tie the square or triangle-shaped scarf around your head so that it keep and covers your strands. Secure it with a loose and slight know that won't cause any problems during the night. For preventing any discomfort place the knot on the crown area rather than on your neck to have a calm night

Let the Sun Shine on Your Hair

While hair does not get sunburned, it is still damaged by the sun, wind, salt water or chlorinated pool water. Exposure to these elements disturbs the otherwise smooth cuticle layer of the hair. As a consequence, the hair gets dryer, rougher and more brittle to the point of appearing straw-like. The hair’s colour pigments are bleached out at the same time. Luckily, this is not inevitable. Simply use our winning hair care strategies along with some clever UV guards and your hair will be as splendid as summer’s glory.
Push-Button Sun Hats
Ideally, hair should never be exposed to intense UV light. This applies particularly to the midday sunlight between 11 AM and 3 PM. Sun hats, sun bonnets, caps and bandanas provide great UV protection. If head wear is not your cup of tea you can still use hair spray with UV guards. Both hats and hair spray protect against UVA and UVB rays, keep more moisture in the hair and prevent bleaching. It is best to use the UV-protective hair spray before leaving the house rather than after your arrival at the beach, the park or on the tennis court.
Diving and Swimming without Unpleasant Surprises
Seawater or pool water can be pretty hard on hair. After a swim in the ocean, salt crystals may form in your hair and increase the damage to your hair. The crystals work like tiny burning glasses, which bundle and focus the sun’s rays. Whenever possible, you should therefore rinse your hair under a fresh water shower after a swim in the ocean. In a pinch, a bottle of fresh water without carbonate will do the trick. Pool water has its own hazards for hair. Disinfectants like chlorine or copper may turn blonde or grey hair green. Here is a quick remedy: Dissolve three regular Aspirin tablets in a litre (1 ¾ pints [UK]) of water and soak your hair in this solution for one hour. Then thoroughly rinse with tap water. You could also cover the green tinge by using a colouring shampoo. A reddish or gold nuance works well for this purpose.
Summer Fun without Bleaching Your Hair
Sun bleaches natural and artificial hair colours alike. You can protect the colour pigments in your hair by using a colour guard hair care series with built-in UV filters. Such shampoos, rinses, masks and hair sprays are made to protect against the summer sun. Conditioning agents bring brilliant colours back to your hair by infusing it with proteins and vitamins, while antioxidants and light filters protect the hair pigments from the bleaching effects of the sun.
Hair Care after Sunbathing
After a long day in the sun or at the beach, you should gently care for your hair in the shower. Special after-sun shampoos and conditioners are particularly gentle and provide moisture for your hair after a long sunny day outdoors. They also contain natural oils for even more supple and shiny hair. In case the ends of longer hair are slightly damaged, you can apply some hair spray, which temporarily repairs split ends. Your hair is going to look healthier for it. In any case, it is a good idea to cut your hair by about a centimetre (0.4") after prolonged sun exposure to stop split ends from getting worse and also to give your hair more bounce.
Nature’s Protection (Fruits and Vegetables)
During the summer months your food should contain especially generous amounts of vitamins C and E as well as beta-carotene. As effective antioxidants they neutralize the free radicals, which are more numerous in bright sunlight. Otherwise, these free radicals damage or destroy cells. Particularly rich in antioxidants are fruits, berries and vegetables, such as apricots, berries, grapes, broccoli and spinach.

Black hair is beautiful in China today

My Israeli friend Inbal told me the other day that she likes Chinese people's hair black and straight. "Western people actually envy you Chinese guys with such beautiful hair," my friend said.
It's interesting, however, that it's not hard to notice large numbers of Chinese who have dyed their hair walking around Shanghai today.
Men and women, old and young, have chosen to abandon their natural hair colour. Look around the streets of Shanghai and I bet 80 per cent of the Chinese you see have changed their hair colour.
If you watch a soccer game between the Chinese national team and a Western team, it can be difficult to tell who is who simply by looking at their hair colour.
Driven by increasing demand, hair dyeing has become one of the most profitable businesses in hair salons. I remember that each time when I have gone to have my hair trimmed, the hairdressers ask the same question over and over: "Would you like to have your hair dyed?" Usually they say: "Look, your hair is too dark. If you have some lighter colour, you'll look more 'in'."
But what is on earth is wrong with my natural colour of black? I was born with it. An old Chinese saying goes like this: "Body, hair and skin come from your parents." We need to be careful about making changes to them.
I really don't know if blonde hair is fashionable or not but as I would no longer be myself with my hair dyed how come I would be "fashionable"? I do not see the logic here.
In the meantime, my other concern over hair dyeing is to do with keeping one's hair healthy. Although dyeing products are said to be safe, they are still chemicals. Look at people who have had their hair dyed - how many still enjoy the sleek and shiny hair they once had? Most hair that has been dyed looks dry and tarnished.
It's widely agreed that fashion trends in Chinese mainland have usually originated in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan. It is these regions and countries who first imported the idea of associating fashion with Western hairstyles. However, lately more and more advertising featuring hair shampoos are using celebrities from these areas to show off their natural black hair. Maybe this trend will come to the mainland soon?

Taking care of your hair

We have about 100,000 hairs on our heads. Each hair shaft has three layers, with the cuticle, or outside layer, protecting the two inner layers.
Shiny hair is a sign of health because the layers of the cuticle lie flat and reflect light. When the scales of the cuticle lie flat they overlap tightly, so the inner layers are well protected from heat, sun, chlorine, and all the other hazards that can come from living in our environment.
When hair is damaged, though, the scales may separate and hair can become dry. Because the scales on dry hair don't protect the inner two layers as well, hair can break and look dull.
The type of hair a person has — whether it's straight or curly — can also affect how shiny it is. Sebum, which is the natural oil on the hair, covers straight hair better than curly hair, which is why straight hair can appear shinier.
Depending how long a person's hair is or how fast it grows, the end of each hair shaft can be a couple of years old. So the hair at the end of the shaft could have survived a few summers of scorching sun and saltwater and winters of cold, dry air. How well you care for your hair from the time it emerges from the root plays a role in how healthy it looks.

How to Take Care of Vacation Hair

Fashion Bomb reader Rae is going to Miami for Spring Break and wrote in asking for tips on how to maintain her relaxed hair.
Since Miami is super hot and humid (or at least it was when I went there–The Weather Channel says average temps in April are around 84 degrees), you’ll want to jump into a pool any chance you get. When you’re not swimming you’re too hot to want to have to do too much to your hair (the humidity will get it anyway). Plus all that chlorine (or salt water if you go to the beach) needs to be washed out of the hair as soon as possible to avoid drying the hair out or ruining any hair color. If you go swimming often, you’ll need frequent cleansing.
One easy way to deal with this is to get wet and wavy hair extensions aka “vacation weave”. The maintenance is surprisingly low because after you cleanse the hair, you can towel dry and wear the hair wavy. If you want something sleek, after the hair dries you can make it straight with a flat iron. You’ll be able to go from pool to the club without a whole lot of time spent on doing your hair.
If you want to work with your own hair (whether you relax or you’re natural), it’s best to get the hair saturated with water and add a little conditioner to it before hitting the water. The hair can only absorb but so much water so it’s best it not be chlorine nor salt water. You’ll want to skip shampoo and do mostly co-washes (cleansing the hair with conditioner) to prevent drying the hair out further. I also recommend air drying the hair as frequent blow drying can be too harsh. Cleansing the hair before going to bed and wrapping it with a silk or satin scarf works because your hair can dry while you sleep. Putting some Moroccanoil Treatment in the hair helps to speed up drying.
Styles like messy ponytails, buns, chignons, and braid outs (braiding the hair for a few hours and then taking the braids out for a wavy look) are ideal hairstyles that don’t require much maintenance. You can also play around with accessories like head scarves, straw hats, and headbands.

Using the Curly Girl Method to Get Curly Hair

Is your curly hair damaged, dry, frizzy or uncontrollable? Are you in search of something new? The “no poo” or curly girl method comes from a book entitled Curly Girl written by Lorraine Massey. The name “no poo” refers to the avoidance of shampoos that contain sulfates which remove natural oils from the hair. With this method, you can finally be free of the spilt ends and frizz and have healthy, soft curls.

1. Prior to starting, use a shampoo that has no sulfates. This will rid the hair of silicones, which are found in many hair care products and are not water soluble.
2. Get a hair trim. This rids you of the damage and split ends. If you prefer, you can trim your hair yourself.
3. Instead of a brush, use a wide-toothed comb. Curly hair is damaged easier with a brush whether the hair is wet or dry. When you use the fingers to untangle your curls, they will be brought out more. Adding extra conditioner will make it easier if you having difficulty untangling your hair.
4. Avoid shampooing your hair. You can effectively wash your hair using conditioner. For those who have very wavy hair, it can be washed occasionally with a gentle shampoo that has very mild cleansers.
5. After the wash, rinse your hair again using cold or cool water. This adds shine and decreases frizziness. Allow some of the conditioner to stay in your hair, particularly in dry areas such as the ends. It is ok to gently run the fingers through your hair, but at this point, do not use a comb.
6. Use your hair products. If the hair is very curly, do this while the hair is soaking wet. For medium curly or wavy hair, wait about five minutes. Rub the product in your hands in order to emulsify it. Next, rake or smooth it into the hair by sections. Shape the curls by scrunching them with your fingers or twisting separate curls around your finger.
7. The hair should be scrunched with paper, a micro-fiber towel, or a t-shirt, because terrycloth towels cause your hair to be frizzy. The curls can be finger shaped now if you like. If you make the curls now, wait for about five minutes to let your hair assume its shape.
8. You can shorten the drying time. Spread the towel or shirt out on a flat surface. Next, bend over to the waist and touch the cloth with your head. Make sure your hair is in the center of your cloth. Drape the cloth’s back section over your head and twist its sides into “sausage rolls”. These should be tied or clipped at the nape of your neck. Keep it on for 15 to 30 minutes. It your hair is frizzy when you remove it, lightly apply some gel.
9. Dry the hair. The gentlest and easiest way is to air dry it. If you have to blow dry, you should use a diffuser to prevent frizz. Don’t dry your hair completely; around 80% dry is adequate. While the hair is drying, don’t touch it because it may frizz.
10. Locate an experienced hairstylist with experience and make sure that she has the skills and supplies to properly manage your curly hair.
11. Your hair should be trimmed every 4 to 6 months. Your hair should be cut between ½ and ¼ in order to eliminate split ends. Think about having your hair cut when it is dry. Remember that curler hair looks shorter when it’s dry.
12. Let your hair adjust. It will take 2 to 6 weeks for the hair to get used to not being shampooed. It may look even worse than before. It will take weeks for the hair to get healthy again after years of having shampoo steal its moisture.
13. Rock those gorgeous curls!
You will get plenty of compliments on your beautiful curls. However, there are a few people who just won’t admire your curly hair. Never mind them; you have gorgeous, curly hair. Flaunt it!

How to Prevent Hair Color Fading

According to experts at Texas A&M University one of the biggest culprits of hair color fading too quickly is oxidation. Oxidation happens quicker when hair color is applied to strands that have a buildup of minerals from your water. Chlorine and mineral build up from hard water will interfere with hair color by attaching and coating the hair shaft with chemical residue.
Hard water leaves hair feeling dry, dull, unmanageable and with a coated texture to the hair. Hard water can also leave an orangey, coppery discoloration to the hair. You can remove this buildup by treating your hair with a Hard Water Demineralizer at home. I recommend using a treatment before going in for your next hair color appointment for your best coverage, best shine and a longest lasting hair color.
Malibu Demineralization Treatment
is easy to apply at home. Shampoo and rinse hair, pour crystals into wet palm, then rub together to form a rich gel. When applied into hair it turns to a lathering treatment. This treatment can be used as often as needed to rid hair of mineral buildup or discoloration. For best results, cover with a shower cap and wrap in a towel or go under a dryer for 15 to 20 minutes. Some salons offer this treatment for clients. Consider this step in the salon or at home for all around better looking locks as well as prepping your hair for your best hair color yet!

Getting Back To Your Natural Hair Color

Have you dyed your hair and are unhappy with the results? When it comes to corrective hair coloring, each case is unique, because no two hair genetics are exactly alike. In Michelle’s case she will be doing a tint-back which is an easier process than correcting a hair color that is too dark, but still tricky. These questions need to be answered: Do you have regrowth (roots) showing?

Yes?

Then the roots will need to be treated separately from the rest of your hair. It helps for a hair colorist to see about an inch of regrowth in order to match that as closely as possible. Seeing that you want the hair color darker, the hair colorist would use a formula that will work best for tinting back the hair color that exists now. It takes some know-how to get this right, not only in the formula, but also in the application. You could do a lot more damage by trying to correct this yourself. The condition of your hair can only be assessed by someone taking a look at it. My guess is it can withstand a hair color back at this point.

No?

Then you may be able to get help by calling the company hotline on the back of the box of hair color you bought. They will ask you a number of questions regarding your hair history and it’s present state. They will advise you on the best route to take from the information you give them. Don’t do anything unless you are clear that the information you gave them was correct.

How to Remove Dye From Hair

If you dyed your hair a darker color with a demi-permanent (claims to wash out in 28 shampoos) dye, make a thick paste of crushed Vitamin C tablets and water. Apply the paste to your damp hair and rest an hour before washing out. This will remove most of the color if applied within a few days of the dying. You will not need to re-color your hair, the paste is non-damaging.

Sometimes, no matter what you do, the dye will not fade or go away. Buy some hair color remover from a salon or drugstore. Loreal's "Hair Color Remover" and "Color Zap" seem to be the most popular, but they are very different! Color Zap will make your hair the color that it is naturally, where Hair Color Remover will gently make your hair colorless, or bleach blonde. Carefully read the instructions and do exactly what it says. Redyeing your hair a lighter shade (ex. dyeing it dark brown if it has been dyed black previously) will not help! Dye on dye is not going to make your hair lighter! More dye will just darken the color!

Sometimes when hair color remover is not enough, you may have to bleach your hair, or see a professional colorist so that they can bleach your hair for you.1. Purchase some Original Formula Prell or another anti-dandruff shampoo such as Head & Shoulders.2. Buy some baking soda. Baking powder does not work.3. Mix them together and wash your hair several times, if necessary. If you can't buy baking soda, you can just try plain dandruff shampoo.

Use a washing powder or clothing detergent. I dyed my hair black and after about 5 washes (leaving it on for about ten minuets) with detergent (bleaching AGENT only, not actual hydrogen peroxide etc, for example surf) it is sort of a dirty blonde, which is fairly close to my natural colour. Beware; your roots will lighten quicker than your ends, so maybe have a good haircut too!

Fashion Illustrationer

"Lula is sketched, scanned and digitally restyled. This Blog features her work titled "The Subject I know Best" consisting of a series of pictures that she describe as "Self Portraits". In her words: it's a "celebration of paper, glue, bindings, pages capturing images you can't forget". To describe herself she quotes her friend Jessica saying : "I'm not bad.I'm just drawn this way"

Start by washing your hair with a volumising range. Comb with a wide-toothed comb to remove any tangles. Partially blow-dry your hair to get rid of excess moisture.

Spray a volumising tonic on your hair, or a handful of mousse spread from tips to ends for extra oomph. Pin hair up and take out small sections at a time to blow-dry. Hold the dryer in one hand and a styling brush in the other. Place the brush underneath the first section of hair and position it at the roots. Keep the tension on the hair (without tugging too hard) and move the brush down towards the ends, while directing the air flow down the hair, following the movement of the brush.

Blow-dry using a large, round brush with a metal core. Wind hair completely up the brush, focusing on creating lift at the roots. Gently blast hair with a hair-dryer until dry.Curl the brush under at the ends to achieve a slight bend. Continue until the back sections are completely dry and then repeat on the top sections of hair. Finish with a light, flexible hairspray.

Some questions about your hair

1. How long have you been natural?

My last perm was in August of 2008. However, I transitioned for nearly two years after.

2. Why did you go natural?

My inspiration came from many of my close friends going natural in high school. Also, I became a big fan of Kai at maneandchic.com, and followed her through her transition. I was so interested to see what my true hair texture looked like and just how long I could grow my hair, so I started my transition in my Junior year of college.

3. Do you have any favorite hair care products?

I truly don't have any staples. Even three years later, I'm still experimenting with products. I have used and liked SheaMoisture, Kinky Curly, Miss Jessies and Jane Carter. Also natural products such as coconut oil, olive oil, apple cider vinegar and raw shea butter. I'm still searching for staple products, but in the meantime I'm enjoying experimenting!

4. Do you have any favorite natural styles you want to share?

My go to style is the puff pony tail...quick, simply, easy.

6. Did you do the Big Chop? if so, what was that like?

I never truly did a big chop. With my last perm in August 2008, I transitioned until 2010 with trims in between. I let go of the last permed ends in June 2010. Even so, that was such a liberating day to finally be free of the perm and able to wear my hair completely natural!

Shiny healthy hair

If you have shiny healthy hair then you might not be interested in reading this because this post is all about how you can keep your hair shiny and healthy. So the first thing that is really important is to choose the right shampoo! if you have sensitive hair make sure you pick a shampoo that is for sensitive hair or if you have coloured hair just pick one that is for coloured hair so keep that in mind don't just pick any shampoo you see, just take your time and think about it!

* Buy a conditioner and a shampoo that have the same brand for example a l'oreal shampoo and a Tresemme conditioner because it just won't work if you look at the back of any shampoo or conditioner it will say that it works better if you use the shampoo or conditioner from the same brand so make sure you do that.

* Use a hair protector! Never ever straighten or curl your hair without a hair protector its very important to use one because it protects your hair from deteriorating and it won't burn it so make sure you buy one if you really want straight or curly hair.

* Wash your hair regularly this is good for your hair because it keeps it clean and smooth but don't wash it too often either you must wash it about 4-5 times a week because if you was your hair everyday it will make-it weaker and less smoother.

* My opinion about the shampoos you should be using. Now I'm going to be honest with you guys about 3 weeks ago i run out of shampoo ( i used to use l'oreal Elvive shampoo and conditioner) so i took my baby brother's shampoo which is the Johnson's baby shampoo with aloe Vera and after i dried my hair i was so surprised my hair felt so so so so soft and it was also shinier ! It was the first time i tried it and i saw the results from the first try so i definitely recommend that shampoo its just amazing!

Do You Know This Year

Precision cut bobs are huge this year, coupled with smooth, sleek styling, a blunt fringe and heaps of shine. Your bob should be carefully crafted to accentuate your unique facial structure, or highlight a long, beautiful neck. Bob hair styles range from ear level to shoulder skimming and are best for straight or slightly wavy hair. If your hair is too curly, a bob can take on the look of a triangle, widening at the bottom in an unflattering way. Only opt for the bangs with this hair style if it works with your facial structure. And if you're feeling a little more groovy baby.incorporate a mod feel into your bob.

Heavy, side-swept bangs and blunt lines characterize this cut. A mod hair style is similar to a bob, it's texture and direction that add a mod feel. This cut has a generous amount of slicing or texturizing to lighten up the bluntness. Your hip, mod hair do should be styled with a swooping motion, directing the hair around the head from the crown or a deep side part. Using hair products like waxes, clays, or muds add texture and a bit of grungy-funk to a mod hair style.

This edgy look just keeps getting more extreme! Bold exploration is the name of the game. Unexpected texture and length differences. The asymmetrical look can be done on a range of hair styles from a short cut, a bob or a longer, layered style. And the angles can range from soft and gently sloping to an extreme plunge. This year, asymmetrical bangs are hot, and whether they're cut blunt or heavily textured, a sloping bang adds interest and can highlight your features nicely.

Under Creative Commons License: Attribution No DerivativesYou will need to start with your own face shape before you seriously consider cutting your hair just like one of your favorite celebrities. Just because you find a celebrity hair style that you like does not mean that it will look good on you. After you have determined your face shape, you will need to look for celebrity hair styles with similar face shapes. When you find a celebrity hair style that you really like, you must consider your hair texture and type. Even though you may have the same face shape as your favorite celebrity, that doesn’t mean that her hair style will work with your hair type. For example, some women cut layers into their hair only to find out later that they are unable to style the hair at all. It just falls flat, with no body.

You should put your clothes selection and hair style selection into the same category. They need to be tailored to your look and your likes. Just like someone with a thick waistline should not wear the same clothes as someone with a small waistline, a hair style needs to be designed to best suit your facial features and even your body type. Many celebrity hair styles today have certain features to them, such as long layers or bangs that can be incorporated into your hair style. So, don’t throw away those celebrity hair style photos because you don’t have the same face shape as the celebrity. To determine your face shape, pull all of your hair back into a ponytail or clip. Stand in front of a mirror and trace the outline of your face onto the mirror using something removable (i.e. a bar of soap, washable marker, etc.). Next, stand back and look at the shape that you drew. Does it look more oval, round, square, heart shaped or oblong? It could be the combination of any of these shapes.

Avoid human hair extensions

Origins have nothing more to do with the quality of extensions that you will receive other than the texture; however this still plays an important part in how our hair extensions look. We must also understand that companies will sometimes treat the hair using chemicals to change the texture, which can also affect the quality.

Everybody's natural hair texture is different and, although not imperative, it is a good idea to look at the type of extension origin in relation to the texture of your natural hair, before buying. The quality of hair that you receive within a set of extensions will play a major part in the difference between a good and a bad set of hair extensions. We all know just how popular extensions have become throughout the world and, with the demand for them getting more everyday, the extension market is becoming very saturated, rapidly.More and more manufacturers are skimping on quality, as the price of natural human hair rises. With new competitors appearing throughout the market everyday, all retailers are feeling the pressure to perform.

As with anything, the price that you pay for your extensions will generally reflect in the quality of product that you receive, however the extension market is renowned for being a highly unregulated, so this cannot be taken as gospel. This series of articles is designed to educate you as a consumer, so you can make an informed decision about the type of hair extensions that will choose to transform your look.

Lets look firstly at probably the cheapest and most readily available; Chinese hair. This has a very coarse/ thick texture and comes in dark colours, mainly black. With Chinese hair you have much more chance of it being put through a chemical process; manufacturers know that extensions are very popular for people with that of Caucasian hair so they will strip down the cuticle to make the hair resemble this texture.Next we have to remember that with Chinese hair, any extension colour other than black, will have to go through some kind of colour stripping process to reach its desired colour. This normally means some kind bleach product will be used, so again, especially with the lighter colours quality will be affected.
