Precision cut bobs are huge this year, coupled with smooth, sleek styling, a blunt fringe and heaps of shine. Your bob should be carefully crafted to accentuate your unique facial structure, or highlight a long, beautiful neck. Bob hair styles range from ear level to shoulder skimming and are best for straight or slightly wavy hair. If your hair is too curly, a bob can take on the look of a triangle, widening at the bottom in an unflattering way. Only opt for the bangs with this hair style if it works with your facial structure. And if you're feeling a little more groovy baby.incorporate a mod feel into your bob.
Heavy, side-swept bangs and blunt lines characterize this cut. A mod hair style is similar to a bob, it's texture and direction that add a mod feel. This cut has a generous amount of slicing or texturizing to lighten up the bluntness. Your hip, mod hair do should be styled with a swooping motion, directing the hair around the head from the crown or a deep side part. Using hair products like waxes, clays, or muds add texture and a bit of grungy-funk to a mod hair style.
This edgy look just keeps getting more extreme! Bold exploration is the name of the game. Unexpected texture and length differences. The asymmetrical look can be done on a range of hair styles from a short cut, a bob or a longer, layered style. And the angles can range from soft and gently sloping to an extreme plunge. This year, asymmetrical bangs are hot, and whether they're cut blunt or heavily textured, a sloping bang adds interest and can highlight your features nicely.
Under Creative Commons License: Attribution No DerivativesYou will need to start with your own face shape before you seriously consider cutting your hair just like one of your favorite celebrities. Just because you find a celebrity hair style that you like does not mean that it will look good on you. After you have determined your face shape, you will need to look for celebrity hair styles with similar face shapes. When you find a celebrity hair style that you really like, you must consider your hair texture and type. Even though you may have the same face shape as your favorite celebrity, that doesn’t mean that her hair style will work with your hair type. For example, some women cut layers into their hair only to find out later that they are unable to style the hair at all. It just falls flat, with no body.
You should put your clothes selection and hair style selection into the same category. They need to be tailored to your look and your likes. Just like someone with a thick waistline should not wear the same clothes as someone with a small waistline, a hair style needs to be designed to best suit your facial features and even your body type. Many celebrity hair styles today have certain features to them, such as long layers or bangs that can be incorporated into your hair style. So, don’t throw away those celebrity hair style photos because you don’t have the same face shape as the celebrity. To determine your face shape, pull all of your hair back into a ponytail or clip. Stand in front of a mirror and trace the outline of your face onto the mirror using something removable (i.e. a bar of soap, washable marker, etc.). Next, stand back and look at the shape that you drew. Does it look more oval, round, square, heart shaped or oblong? It could be the combination of any of these shapes.

Avoid human hair extensions
Origins have nothing more to do with the quality of extensions that you will receive other than the texture; however this still plays an important part in how our hair extensions look. We must also understand that companies will sometimes treat the hair using chemicals to change the texture, which can also affect the quality.
Everybody's natural hair texture is different and, although not imperative, it is a good idea to look at the type of extension origin in relation to the texture of your natural hair, before buying. The quality of hair that you receive within a set of extensions will play a major part in the difference between a good and a bad set of hair extensions. We all know just how popular extensions have become throughout the world and, with the demand for them getting more everyday, the extension market is becoming very saturated, rapidly.More and more manufacturers are skimping on quality, as the price of natural human hair rises. With new competitors appearing throughout the market everyday, all retailers are feeling the pressure to perform.
As with anything, the price that you pay for your extensions will generally reflect in the quality of product that you receive, however the extension market is renowned for being a highly unregulated, so this cannot be taken as gospel. This series of articles is designed to educate you as a consumer, so you can make an informed decision about the type of hair extensions that will choose to transform your look.
Lets look firstly at probably the cheapest and most readily available; Chinese hair. This has a very coarse/ thick texture and comes in dark colours, mainly black. With Chinese hair you have much more chance of it being put through a chemical process; manufacturers know that extensions are very popular for people with that of Caucasian hair so they will strip down the cuticle to make the hair resemble this texture.Next we have to remember that with Chinese hair, any extension colour other than black, will have to go through some kind of colour stripping process to reach its desired colour. This normally means some kind bleach product will be used, so again, especially with the lighter colours quality will be affected.

Celebrity hairs easily
The heart-shaped face is wide in the eye and cheekbone area with a narrow or pointy chin. Many heart-shaped faces also have a high fore head. For long hair styles, add long, wavy layers around your cheekbones that fall in the neck area. For shorter hair, add top layers that are long and soft. Avoid blunt-cut bangs, short hair, ponytails and choppy layers. Subtle layering is much more flattering. Side-swept bangs are a great technique to lessen the width and height of the forehead area. Celebrities with Heart Shaped Face include: Brittany Murphy, Reese Witherspoon and Scarlett Johansson.
Round Face Shape: A round face is as wide as it is long with rounded edges. The nose is the center guide. In trying to maintain the appearance of an oval face shape, hair for round face shapes should be kept close to the sides of the face, while the crown will need height and volume. If you want your face to appear slimmer, make sure hair is showing below the chin. Layers from the lips down remove bulk and weight from the sides. Tapered ends will draw attention away from the roundness by allowing hair to fall close to the head. One length cuts tend to widen the face.
Avoid short hair and volume at the sides. Celebrities with round face shapes: Cameron Diaz, Kyra Sedgwick and Penelope Cruz. The best hair oil for hair care is Mira hair oil, this oil is known to stop hair loss and promote the growth of healthy hair. Mira hair oil does it all. Make Hair Style at home
Use clean old sheets or old t-shirts to make the rag strips. Make sure they are natural fiber and lint free! Cut or tear into strips about an inch wide and 6 inches long. If your hair is very long you made need longer strips.
Wash your hair and let it dry until its just a little damp. Section your hair into ½ - 1 inch sections. Take one of the rags and lay it alongside the section of hair. Wrap the hair around the rag in a spiral, leaving enough cloth at the top and bottom so you can tie the ends together. Make sure the end of the strand isn't sticking out anywhere. The tighter you wrap the hair the tighter the curls will be.
Finish wrapping up the rest of your hair and then go to bed! The rags shouldn't be too uncomfortable at all. Perms work best on thick, strong hair that hasn't been colored. If you have a few highlights or even a full color, that is ok. But heavy highlighted, double processed hair can leave your hair fragile and slightly damaged.
The strong chemicals for a perm could totally kill your hair if its already damaged. If you're not sure if your hair could handle a perm, ask your stylist. They will want to know your hair history and can tell you if you are a suitable candidate for a perm. Here's a trick to try at home. Take a few strands of hair and put them in a glass of water. If they float, your hair is healthy. If they sink, your hair is damaged and is soaking up moisture.
A perm will take about 1-2 hours, depending on the length of your hair. The way it works- chemicals are used to break and reform the structural bonds of your hair. After the hair is wrapped on a perm rod and the hair is placed in the physical shape we want it to take. The size of the rod determines the tightness of the curl. A chemical solution is applied which raises the cuticle of the hair strand and breaks of the bonds that of your natural hair wave pattern.
After this chemical solution has been rinsed off, a neutralizer is used to reform the bonds of the hair and sets the new curl pattern.

Women with tight curly hair
Women with tight curly hair, or fine, dead straight hair that has little body and refuses to hold curl (yes, that's me!) struggle to style our hair at times. If you have been blessed with fairly straight hair, then you are lucky and the envy of many women (myself included). Thick hair that is mostly straight, with maybe a slight wave is usually the easiest hair to style. Your natural wave loves to be curled and styled, and yet is easy to straighten and looks fabulous worn straight.
Hair must be completely dry, as slightly damp hair will respond badly to straightening. Also using a heated appliance on damp hair causes the hair to "cook" from the steaming, swelling the hair shaft and forcing the protective moisture from the cortex of the hair. If your hair is not quite as straight as you want it, you have some easy options to temporarily straighten your hair: straightening products, hair dryer or straightening iron.
If your hair is really not straight and you want to get rid of your curl permanently (well, at least 6 months), you have the option of professionally straightening your hair. Also start with clean, DRY hair. If possible, use a leave-in conditioning spray after washing your hair, but before starting to straighten. Use a flat iron appropriate for your hair length. Wider irons are suitable for very long hair, but most women are better off using an appliance with heating plates 1" to 1 ½ " wide. These smaller irons offer better control and are lighter in weight.
Section your hair into small, manageable sections. If you try and straighten a big chunk of hair at once, you will get an uneven result. The hair on the outside might straighten but hair in the middle won't have been straightened. Work on smaller sections and you will get a much straighter look. Use a small amount of styling product to maintain the style. Using a spray of hairspray on the straightened sections, or a small amount of mousse or gel when drying your hair, will extend the life of your hair style. Your straightened hair will last longer.

Summery tips of 2010 hairstyle searches
As the emo trend is rather gloomy and brooding, black is the color of choice for most wearers. Blonde emo styles are quite uncommon, but girls are often seen sporting bleached out or brightly colored streaks. The emo cut is most traditionally done with an actual razor, so as to give the choppy effect.
Emo hairstyles come in all colors and lengths, but most often guys and girls alike are seen sporting darker color tones and choppy layers. Bangs are very common in emo hair cuts, as are colored streaks and spiky ends. For girls, the most popular look is the long layers, as it provides a lot of flexibility in styling. For boys, the hair is often swept to one side, covering part of or most of the face. For most girls, some of the biggest questions on their mind is will this hairstyle look good on me? What are the hottest hairstyles for this year? Depending on who you ask, and what hair is really instyle at the time, a good portion of the time a short hairstyle can look great just about on every face.
Short hairstyles are generally hair styles reaching down somewhere above your shoulder line. There are many degrees of short hairstyles, some have a very short hair length and some that fall closer to a medium short length. The shorter the style, the less likely the cut will tailor to every woman's face. In order to create a sexy short hairstyle look that is perfect for every facial shape, the hair needs to accentuate the positives of the face. Check out more. Short Hairstyles Tips.
Already one of the hottest and most popular trends of our time, the Emo, which stands for emotional (for those not in the know), can best be described as a spawn of punk and Gothic fashion. One may also recall the emo music style that evolved a few years ago. 2011 has seen the emo hair trend evolve among teens and tweens everywhere, including the UK and Europe, but especially in the United States.

Stress is the aspect of a troubling divorce
Divorce and women's hair loss may be linked, a new study shows, and stress is the most likely reason.
"Most likely, stress is the aspect of a troubling divorce that appears to lead to hair loss among women," lead researcher Dr. Bahman Guyuron, chairman of the department of plastic surgery at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, told HealthDay.After genetics, marital status is the single highest predictor of hair loss among women, and the most hair loss occurs in women who have lost a spouse either through death or divorce, HealthDay reported.
Researchers conducted two studies on female identical twins who completed lifestyle surveys, blood tests and photo analysis of hair. Using twins in studies rules out the factor of genetic differences, since each twin has the same genes as the other.
Hair loss near the temples seemed to be caused by a history of smoking. Having a few drinks per week seemed to reduce the risk in that area, although drinking increased hair loss in other areas on the head. Excessive smoking and/or drinking also contributed to hair loss in men, the researchers found in another study.
Dr. Doris Day, an attending physician in dermatology at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, told HealthDay that stress can contribute to hair loss. "It's complicated," she said, "but it's not a shock to suggest that various kinds of stress can lead to hair loss. Or that men and women don't experience stress in the same way, so that their hair loss patterns may be different."

Shiny hair is a sign of health
Shiny hair is a sign of health because the layers of the cuticle lie flat and reflect light. When the scales of the cuticle lie flat they overlap tightly, so the inner layers are well protected from heat, sun, chlorine, and all the other hazards that can come from living in our environment. When hair is damaged, though, the scales may separate and hair can become dry. Because the scales on dry hair don't protect the inner two layers as well, hair can break and look dull.Your hair type. People with dry, curly hair have different hair care needs than people with straight, fine hair. But all hair needs to be treated gently, especially when it's wet. Wet hair can stretch, making it more vulnerable to breakage or cuticle damage. That's why using a hot blow-dryer (or other heat styling products) on very wet hair can damage it.
Some people find that their hair gets oily in their teen years. That's because the hair follicles contain sebaceous glands that make sebum, which moisturizes the hair and skin. During adolescence, the sebaceous glands may become overactive, producing more oil than needed. As with acne, oily hair is usually a temporary part of puberty. Many teens care for oily hair by washing it once a day — or more if they're active. As long as you treat your hair gently when it's wet, frequent washing shouldn't harm it. If you have acne, it's a good idea to keep the hair around your face clean so hair oils don't clog your pores.
If you're washing your hair every day or more, it may be better to choose a mild shampoo instead of a shampoo designed for oily hair. For some people — especially people with fine, fragile, or combination hair (hair that's oily at the crown but dry on the ends) — shampoos for oily hair can be too harsh. If you have oily hair and want to use a conditioner, choose one that's made for oily hair. The type of hair a person has — whether it's straight or curly — can also affect how shiny it is. Sebum, which is the natural oil on the hair, covers straight hair better than curly hair, which is why straight hair can appear shinier.Depending how long a person's hair is or how fast it grows, the end of each hair shaft can be a couple of years old. So the hair at the end of the shaft could have survived a few summers of scorching sun and saltwater and winters of cold, dry air. How well you care for your hair from the time it emerges from the root plays a role in how healthy it looks.

Don't Break Your Hair
When hairs break at the ends, they're called "split ends," and the splits can travel up the hair shaft.A major cause of hair breakage is improper use of chemical hair treatments, like the treatments described above. But brushing or combing hair too frequently or in the wrong way (such as using a fine-toothed comb on very thick, curly hair or teasing hair) can lead to breakage. Hair extensions and braids can also cause breakage. Leaving them in too long or pulling them out without professional help can cause hair and scalp damage or even hair loss.Sometimes hair breakage and dry, brittle hair are signs of a medical problem, such as hypothyroidism or an eating disorder.
If your hair is breaking even though you don't treat it with chemicals or other styling products, see a doctor. We have about 100,000 hairs on our heads. Each hair shaft has three layers, with the cuticle, or outside layer, protecting the two inner layers.Shiny hair is a sign of health because the layers of the cuticle lie flat and reflect light. When the scales of the cuticle lie flat they overlap tightly, so the inner layers are well protected from heat, sun, chlorine, and all the other hazards that can come from living in our environment. When hair is damaged, though, the scales may separate and hair can become dry.
Because the scales on dry hair don't protect the inner two layers as well, hair can break and look dull. How well you care for your hair from the time it emerges from the root plays a role in how healthy it looks.Hair can break when points in the hair thicken or weaken. Sometimes this happens near the scalp so a person's hair never grows very long.

Tips of Hair Care
The Girls Aloud beauty - who was unceremoniously dumped from the judging panel of the media mogul US Factor - had a chance to get her revenge by detonating an explosive which blasted a life size model of Simon into bits as she continued her morale boosting visit to Helmand province.
Cheryl also took the opportunity to mock Simon, joking: it is head needed to be a lot bigger and the trousers could have done with being a lot higher. It was nice to hold the cards for a change - this moment will live in my memory for a long time. They sprang it on me. I had no idea Simon the dummy was going to be blown up. It was good to see everyone having a laugh.

In the Heart of the Beast Hair
As some of you have noticed, I’ve been updating far less frequently in the last few months. My life has gotten increasingly busy working for Take Sunset, and I have not had as much time to devote to my lovely Hair On The Brain. I miss my regular readers and all of your great comments. I miss sharing my random thoughts with you guys too, but I need to get business in order, and that takes a lot of time and energy. So I wanted to let you guys know that I’m not going to delete this site, but I am going to take a bit of a blog hiatus for now. HOTB will continue to stay up, so feel free to comment if you feel like it! And I will resume posting when I have time or when I have something to say.
Supposedly, the color change is due to Blake courting the role of Glinda the Good Witch in Oz: The Great and Powderful, which will be out in 2013. (ummm.) Girl, what about a wig? Also, I’m kinda sad they’re messing with Oz. But then again

Jersey Shore's Show
The giant retailer, which caters mostly to young people, said they are concerned that the audience is relating their brand to the characters on Jersey Shore saying that it “could cause significant damage to our image.”"We are concerned about Mike 'the Situation' Sorrentino’s association with our brand and have also extended this offer to other members of the cast, and are urgently waiting a response,” an Abercrombie & Fitch spokesperson said in a statement obtained by The Christian Post.MTV, a unit of Viacom Inc, released a statement in response that called Abercrombie's offer a clever PR stunt, according to media reports today. But the strongest voice so far is radio personality Todd Schnitt. He commented on air that while America’s children are watching shows like Jersey Shore they are texting, phoning, and tweeting about the show – thereby spreading the “silliness and provocative behavior” to their friends."They are just stupid," Schnitt said about the show.
Schnitt said shows like Jersey Shore and other reality-type programming disasters are bad for kids because of a laundry list of behaviors sensationalized on air including sex, aggression, and actions that show zero moral values.Several listeners called in to the show telling Schnitt how much they agreed with his position.Schnitt asked a direct question to the audience saying, “how many shows are we going to have to stand for? Their actions are being watched by our children and they think it is cool or something. It is destroying our society."Labeling himself a "fiercely-independent conservative," Schnitt doesn’t profess to be a checklist guy. He actually coined a few phrases “Schizobama” and “CONmander-in-chief.”"You need to listen every day and see how I come down on every issue," he straightforwardly suggested."When someone is wrong and when I disagree about something or someone, I’m going to be honest. We bring a different aura in presentation, delivery and ideology of a conservative radio show."The reality show, currently in its fourth season, features hard-partying hookups.
It is based on seven New Jersey friends who live together in a house on the Jersey Shore together for a summer. The males on the show reveal their bodies, tattoos of crosses, funny hair styles and dance moves, and they have only one goal: hooking up with as many girls as possible. The girls on the show love their hair extensions, poofs, and wearing as few clothes as possible. Drinking, hooking up in the hot tub, clubbing, and doing cartwheels in a thong on the dance floor entail some of the “highlights” of the show.Schnitt is not the only high-profile voice objecting to the content on today’s reality television shows.Several conservative blogs object to shows like Jersey Shore because ridiculous discussions are entertaining America’s young including people like Snooki, who claims her dream man is both "a nice guy and a jerk” and is still on the fence as to if a pickle is a vegetable. It amazes the show’s critics that she is being asked to present at award shows, appear on New Year's Eve countdowns and still featured on the cover of several magazines."It sends the message that this girl hit a gold mine and the next reality series we can expect something much worse,” one blogger wrote."Famous for being Famous" – it's become one of the most popular clichés of the millennium.”All the gossip, insults, sex talk, aggression, and dirty looks add up fast on popular reality shows, far outpacing the level seen in equally popular comedies and dramas.
A study conducted by Brigham Young University involved 120 hours of viewing reality show programming and coding every instance of physical sex talk, verbal and relational aggression, and other unfavorable actions.Researchers said despite the “reality” label, the aggression is copied by those who watch the show. They concluded the shows are loaded with meanness, rude behavior, and sexual references. Young people involved in the study reacted in similar ways after watching parts of the show, the study reports.Psychologists agree that television today is harmful to the psyche of young people. Experts suggest parents monitor what their children are watching on television no matter how old they are – even into the high school years.Offering alternatives to reality shows like reading together as a family, a walk outside, watching a documentary, game-nights, or spending time writing are more productive activities for children."Shows like Jersey Shore prove that America is a junk consuming nation,” another blogger wrote."Whether we admit it or not, we love junk. We consume junk in droves whether it is in the form of reality television or food. And the scariest part is that young people are being told that if you can create junk, you can make it big.”
